ARCHITECT & ENGINEEER COLLABORATION
Practical landscape architecture and environmental insight for stronger, more coordinated projects.
Architects and engineers shape the built environment, and landscape architecture plays a vital role in bringing that vision to completion. I work alongside A/E teams to support site planning, planting design, grading and drainage relationships, environmental considerations, and community expectations. My role is to provide clarity and technical depth to the exterior components of a project so the landscape becomes functional, compliant, cohesive, and grounded in practical construction knowledge. I help teams avoid conflicts, strengthen design intent, streamline approvals, and present a complete, well-coordinated project to clients and review boards. Whether the work involves a single residential property or a community-scale commercial development, my goal is to simplify the process and support the entire design team with clear, dependable landscape architecture. A/E teams rely on me for many aspects of exterior design. Some projects require schematic landscape concepts integrated directly into architectural or civil plans; others need detailed planting design, hardscape layout, amenity planning, grading relationships, or environmental review. I assist with tree preservation planning and risk assessment, buffer and mitigation strategies, code interpretation, HOA and ARC submittals, community and subdivision landscape plans, and coordination drawings that fit seamlessly into architectural or civil sets. I also support site reviews, punch lists, and construction guidance. My role adjusts to the structure and needs of your team—whether you require full landscape architecture support or targeted consultation. This level of coordination matters because exterior elements often intersect with multiple disciplines. When landscape considerations are addressed late or spread across teams, issues can arise: drainage conflicts, tree placement interfering with utilities or foundations, missing planting documentation, unmet buffer requirements, compliance concerns, delays at the municipal or HOA level, or inconsistencies between architectural intent and site realities. My involvement helps eliminate these problems by providing clear, buildable, and coordinated landscape documentation that supports your overall design and makes the project easier to deliver. My collaborative process is straightforward and designed to integrate smoothly with architectural and engineering workflows. We begin with a project review of architectural plans, civil drawings, and site conditions. From there, I prepare schematic landscape concepts that support the project vision. As the design progresses, I coordinate closely with your team to align grading, drainage, utilities, plantings, and architectural elements. When plans move into development, I prepare planting plans, buffers, hardscape layouts, and required details. I also assist with HOA/ARC submissions, municipal reviews, and compliance checks. During construction, I remain available to answer questions and support installations. Communication is direct and efficient, and the process adapts to your pace and structure. My fee schedule reflects the variability of A/E collaboration and depends on the scope and complexity of the project. Most design support is offered as a clearly defined flat fee that typically includes one or two revisions, making costs predictable and transparent. Larger or multi-phase projects may require alternate arrangements, but the goal remains the same: clarity, simplicity, and value that supports your workflow. This service is ideal for architects, civil engineers, structural teams needing site-related input, landscape contractors working under architectural direction, developers assembling design teams, builders seeking cohesive plan sets, and public or private clients who require coordinated exterior design. If your work involves outdoor spaces, vegetation, drainage, environmental requirements, or community standards, this service strengthens your design and delivery. My collaboration with architects and engineers is supported by more than thirty years of experience in landscape architecture and design-build work. I am a multi-state licensed landscape architect and hold a license in ornamental horticulture. My background also includes experience as a licensed Realtor, which provides insight into marketability, development expectations, and the broader value of design. Combined with a strong understanding of drainage, grading, vegetation, and code compliance, this allows me to provide landscape architecture that is both creative and technically grounded—an asset to any A/E team. If your architectural or engineering team needs landscape architecture, environmental insight, or coordinated exterior design, I would be glad to help.
